What you can buy with $1244.03

29 September 2000

Yes! After bugging my old boss, Bill, for about a week, changing my mind about a zillion times (sorry Bill), and cutting cost by getting rid of some items (sorry again Bill), I am getting my new computer! I got the money to Bill on Tuesday, he finished ordering the parts tonight, and he should have it built in about a week and a half. I’m happy!

Anyhow, here are the full specs on my system:
* AMD Athlon Thunderbird A-7 750 MHz w/ AMD-approved fan
* Gigabyte Motherboard
* 128 MB PC100 RAM
* Maxtor 20 GB HDD, 7200 RPM, U100-compatible
* Voodoo 3 3000 AGP
* Sound Blaster Live! X-Gamer sound-card
* Hitachi 17″ Monitor, 16.1″ viewable, .22MM dot-pitch

It also includes some parts I already had, namely the mouse, keyboard, 3Com 10-based NIC, and Microsoft DSS speakers.

Thanks for doing this, Bill.

What’s Your Favorite Scary Movie?

26 September 2000

Alright, two stories in one.

First, I was over at Jeanette’s dorm with Dante and Kevin, and Kevin was talking to his roommate Mark. Kevin was goofing off so Mark hung up. So… I called up Mark and started pulling some lines from my favorite scary movie, Scream. “Hello?” “I’m sorry, I must have the wrong number… What’s your name?” And Mark hung up on me. Well, as any fan of Scream knows, hanging up is a big mistake. So we all run to my dorm and I grab my Scream stalker costume. (Yes, I have one. It was hanging on my wall at one point.) We then proceeded to go to Kevin and Mark’s dorm and all pitched in to playing an elaborate “Scream” prank on him. To make a long story a little less long, I jump in through Mark’s doorway and make a stabbing motion. You’d think at very least the guy would move. No. He was so engrossed in playing on his computer that he hardly noticed me. What a loser! Somebody’s taken their love for video games one step too far.

The second part of the story is a bit of strange coincidence. Later that night, as Dante and I were walking out to his car to drive back to Mesa, I stumble onto a cell phone. (This is one of the major tools that the killers in Scream used.) Not too much coincidence, I guess. I looked in the address book, though, to try and find the owner’s number, and in the process, I stumble onto an entry of Ceci. The significance: Ceci was the name of Sarah Michelle Gellar’s character in Scream 2. There was also a Bobby listed, and Bobby was one of the killers in Scary Movie. Ok, so I’m a Scream nut.

“With Arms Wide Open” and eyes nearly shut…

Ok, now I am not totally against the group, I think their music is okay, but have I stayed up entirely too long when Creed starts sounding good?

I need some Juvenile or maybe some techno to keep me going.

Nobody Says Easter….

“Bawk, bawk, bawk, bawk, bawk, bawk, bawk, bawk, bawk, bawk, bawk, bawk, BWAWK!!!”
- Cadbury Bunny

Anyhow, I went to the game with Clarisa tonight (Saturday night). Loved it. If you’re reading, Clarisa, thanks for the wonderful time.

Oh, and shout-outs to all those who might want to get mentioned in this journal… (I feel like I’m on TRL when I do this…) I just wanna say “hey” to:
* Danielle - It’s Danielle, right?
* Taryn - Do you want those CD’s? j/k
* Lindsey - I’m seeing stars… well, one at least
* Ryan - Keep playin’ your computer games
* Justin - Keep playin’ Ryan’s computer games
* Dante` - Sup wigga?
* Jeanette - When do I get that story?
* Kevin - Hey, hey, hey… hey… hey…
** Clarisa - Bawk

Feeling a little better… Fortunately.

I think I’m finally kicking this darn cold. It’s good, too; I’m supposed to go to the game tonight with Clarisa.

(By the way, she and I ate together again on Thursday.)

Chicken Soup!

23 September 2000

Some body bring me SOUP!!! hehe

Just kidding!

Crap, Crap, Crap…

22 September 2000

Just when I think I’m getting better, I get worse. Not only do I still have my sore throat, but my nose is completely stuffed and I have a pretty nasty cough…

Faster than Ryan’s

22 September 2000

Well, since my computer has messed up, I’m getting a new one. And it’s faster than my roommate Ryan’s computer. Ha-ha! For any other tech-heads out there, here are the specs.

AMD Athlon 750 MHz w/ Thunderbird core & AMD-approved cooling fan, Gigabyte motherboard, Western Digital 15 GB IDE Hard Disk Drive, Sound Blaster Live sound card, 17″ Monitor, other parts TBD

Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd……………… I plan to get a web cam for the new system. I might not get it right away, but by next semester for sure.

My New Computer Business (Part 2)

21 September 2000

I went and helped my new friend Lindsey with her computer… Not that anyone cares, but her hard drive is DOA. Anyhow, who’d of thunk that being a CSE major could have social benefits? :-P

BTW, I have semi-unfortunate news… The company that provides my LiveJournal service is limiting their free-user features. This means I’m probably going to have to pay (about $25) to keep the journal going. So, if anyone wants to give a donation to help keep it going, feel free to slip some under the door. :-D Actually, I like this idea. Maybe if I can raise enough extra, I’ll buy a webcam. Riiiiiiiiiight.

Crap

20 September 2000

Ugh. I feel like crap. My throat was sore last night, but I had hoped I could sleep on it and it’d feel better today. Yeah right. As if I got enough sleep to kick it in the first place. I think I’m going to have to come home this afternoon and just sleep all night. Sorry to anyone I may have had plans with. :-(
