Dot-Coms and Radios
30 January 2001It’s here!!! It’s here, it’s here, it’s here!
Thom’s World is a dot-com now!
After problems with the site where I bought thoms-world.com, as well as some minor server problems (Windows sucks!), I decided to host Thom’s World remotely. So, I bought the Domain Hosting plan from RedRival.com and set everything up. So here it is: thoms-world.com! This is a milestone!
Ok, now… Speaking of dot-coms… My friend and former web-teammate, Brad, is in the KZON “Survive It and Drive It” contest. (He’s dot-com Brad, not hick-Brad.) Why is he “dot-com Brad”? Because the other former teammates, Mike and Andy, have put together a site for him: keepbradin.com Now, there’s a lot of negative stuff about Brad right now on his message board, but I assure you, Brad’s a very nice guy and as deserving of the Ford Escape as anyone else in the contest. To vote, go to KZON. You can also listen in on them, if you’re in the area, by turning your radio to 101.5 FM.
Still not done… Speaking of radio, I bought one. Ooh, big deal, right? :-P It’s not really anything major, but I bought a USB FM radio to connect to my computer, so I can listen to the airwaves on my hefty speaker system. I love my .mp3 collection, but this is definitely going to save on hard disk space.
X to the 2
23 January 2001Just a short post… You can check out my idea for the next X-Men movie at the following link: xmen2.html
I’m baaaaaaaaaaaaack…
20 January 2001Thom’s World is online again, and continually improving!
If you look at the side menu, you’ll notice a nice little addition… The Webcam Page! Yup, in case you have some sick, demented need to watch me sit at my desk, you can now do so. Oh, a few tips… The main webcam page is called a “META refresh” page… You might prefer the JavaScript refresh… because the window doesn’t blink when it refreshes… But your browser might not support it… also, your cache control has to be set on the lowest setting possible… Anyhow, the other versions are available at the bottom of the webcam page. The remote windows are handy too.
Oh, soon, Thom’s World will be a little more official… I just bought www.thoms-world.com a few days ago. Now I just have to point the name to the address of the server. This is one dot-com that isn’t going to flop! :-)
Back in the Dorm… And GOD IT’S COLD!!!
16 January 2001I have finally moved back in, home sweet dorm… But it is absolutely freezing in here. Anyhow, I’m trying to get the subdomain pointed toward the webserver again, but I dunno how long it will take. Maybe I’ll just buy my domain.
Really REALLY Late Update
4 January 2001A belated Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and any other holiday salutations I owe to everyone.
I don’t even know if anyone can check the journal right now, since my server is down for the break, and the LiveJournal server itself is having a lot of problems. Still, I wish I were more punctual in my updates.
First of all, a few of my friends are going through some turbulence right now. I’ll spare any details, but if any of you are reading this, just know that I am here for you.
Anyhow, ooh! I gotta brag about my Christmas presents. I wasn’t completely spoiled this year, but it was a much bigger Christmas than we’ve had recently. I got the .com edition of Monopoly (thanks little bro), a $30 Best Buy gift certificate from my aunt, movie gift certificates (thanks Uncle Larry & Aunt Mernie), The Mark, Tom, and Travis Show CD by Blink 182 (thanks Dante`), and a big thing of chocolate liquers as a white elephant gift… I think from my cousin Matt (thanks… a lot… hehe) My parents got me a lot of stuff: a new keyboard, a new mouse (with three thumb buttons… very handy), a spool of blank CDs, A Night at the Roxbury (Score!), The latest Zelda game, the Beatles’ 1 album, and a few other things. Oh, the big thing they got me: a webcam! And the exact model I wanted (maybe because I picked it out), the Intel Deluxe PC Camera. So, of course, I’m adding a webcam page to Thom’s World… Actually, I already have, but you’ll just have to wait until I get my ethernet back.
While we’re on the subject of stuff for my computer (nerd alert!), I’m getting a pretty hefty amount of cash this semester from scholarships, so I’m gonna buy a CD burner, DVD, and a decent printer.
Well, I’m sure I had more to write, but I’ve forgotten. lol So, if I don’t see you again, good afternoon, good evening, and goodnight. (Sorry… Just watched The Truman Show on HBO.)
