Wisdom Teeth
29 December 2003Got the rest of my wisdom teeth–the bottom two–taken out today. It was my first time going under, w/ general anethesia. ‘Twas interesting… I tried to keep tabs on how it felt throughout to go under. I was fairly calm about it, but when they started giving me the stuff, I had an interesting feeling come over me–a sort of fear or anger that my consciousness was being “robbed” from me. I realized that I don’t like not being able to be totally coherent. (I guess it’s a different feeling from voluntarily giving it up, i.e. drinkin’.) But it was interesting… It wasn’t like my eyelids were getting heavy, but I got a vaguely tired feeling and felt compelled to close my eyes. I don’t actually remember a “fade to black”… Just sorta drifting into some sort of dream (about Goldfield, actually) and waking up, groggy but goofy some short amount of time later. That was another odd thing. It wasn’t like there was a lapse in my perception of time, it just got really distorted and I couldn’t seem to make sense of it.
