Really Long Survey

28 January 2007 | Posted in Surveys & Junk

I’m way overdue for for one of those big long, life update entries, but I’m also way overdue for bed, so for now I’m just going to post this obsessively long survey. Really, it’s like 500-600 questions. Enter at your own risk. :P

(1) The singular most boring question: what is your name?

Thom

(2) Are you happy with it?

Yep

(3) Are you named after anyone?

“Thomas” came from my grandfather. I’d prefer to think Jefferson or Edison or Paine or Moore, but, not so lucky.

(4) Are you a prostitute?

No

(5) Your screenname:

Depends on where you’re trying to find me.

(6) Would you name a child of yours after you?

Yes… If I have two sons, the second will be Thomas Logan, hopefully.

(7) Then what would you name your children?

For boys: James Gordon, Thomas Logan, Benjamin Matthew (or Matthew Benjamin). Girls: that’s for Mommy to decide. :)

(8) If you were born a member of the opposite sex, what would your name be?

No clue.

(9) If you could switch names with a friend, who would that be?

I’m happy with my own.

(10) Are there any mispronounciations/typos that people do with your name constantly?

Yeah… First of all, the last name gets spelled Strickland a lot. Second, “Thom” throws everyone for a loop. Most will just write Tom, but some try to be cute and spell “Thommy” or pronounce it “thhom” (soft th).

(11) Would you drop your last name if you became famous?

No, might switch it for something else though. “Thom Frye” sounds cool. :P

DEEP THOUGHTS about life and you in it

- - - - -

(38) Do you live in the moment?

Eh, I tend to worry about the future a lot. Depends on what I’m doing, I guess.

(39) Do you consider yourself tolerant of others?

Mostly. I don’t tolerate rude or hurtful behavior well, but I usually don’t make a fuss about it either.

(40) Do you have any secrets?

Not many… Mostly personality quirks that I myself am not very aware of.

(41) Do you hate yourself?

No.

(42) Do you like your handwriting? Eh, I like that it looks the same as how I wrote in third grade. I just wish I’d written better in third grade.

(43) Do you have any bad habits?

Is laziness and forgetfulness a bad habit?

(44) What is the compliment you get most from people?

Pssh… Usually about being smart or talented or something. I’d rather it be about my character, but maybe I’m slacking off on that or something.

(45) If a movie was made about your life, what would it be called?

I used to think The 40-Year-Old Virgin would make a good retrospective of my life someday, but now I’m not sure. “Love Actually”? :)

(46) What’s your biggest fear?

Failing, screwing up, or being alone. I got used to being alone before, but I’d never want to go back to it.

(47) Can you sing?

I’d probably get heckled off American Idol, but I can hold a tune well enough to impress friends and loved ones.

(48) Do you ever pretend to be someone else just to look cool?

Nope, I always preferred to be myself and was perfectly comfortable with being uncool.

(49) Are you a loner?

I don’t need many people, but I define myself by the ones I do need. So… I dunno?

(50) What are your no. 1 priorities in life?

If you have multiple priorities can they all be #1? Making the love of my life happy, spending the rest of my life with her, providing for us, and making my dreams come true.

(51) If you were another person, would you be friends with you?

No, I think I’d find myself rather boring, sorta annoying, and I would feel pretty useless as a friend.

(52) Are you a daredevil?

Hardly.

(53) Is there anything you fear or hate about yourself?

Just my inexperience. I feel like I’m always playing catch-up with the rest of the world.

(54) Are you passive or aggressive?

Except when driving, usually passive. If someone really pushes my button I can get aggressive quickly, but like, only if I feel personally wronged or something.

(55) Have you got a journal?

Got a website. (”Blog”, if we’re going to throw buzzwords around.)

(56) What is your greatest strength and weakness?

Strength: Problem-solving, maybe?

Weakness: Insecurity, stubbornness, or laziness. Take your pick.

(57) If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

Where I live. :P Or who I’m living with, no offense to the ‘rents.

(58) There are three wells, love, beauty and creativity….

I would drink from love.

(59) How do you vent? I usually retreat into my mind, sleep it off, or drive to the river or something.

(60) Do you think you are emotionally strong?

Strong, yes, but not always the most in tune with my own emotions.

(61) Is there anything you regret doing/not doing in life?

Jumping into college without knowing what I wanted out of it. But it led me to where I am today, so I can’t complain.

(62) Do you think life has been good so far?

I’ve been pretty lucky just to have the family I have. And it took me a while, but now I’ve found love. So it’s hard to complain. ;)

(63) What is the most important lesson you’ve learned from life?

Things have a way of working themselves out for the better.

(64) What do you like the most about your body?

My eyes, I guess.

(65) And least?

My gut. Or my general lack of perfect symmetry.

(66) Do you think you are good looking?

I think I look kinda goofy.

(67) Are you confident?

Depends on the situation.

(68) What is the fictional character you’re most like?

No clue.

(70) Are you perceived wrongly?

I don’t think so. I’m pretty unassuming and I think I come off that way too. Not sure if that really answers the question, but oh well.

(245) Do you read porn? Do people really *read* porn? I used to look at it, thought it was a good way not to objectify the real people in my life, which might sound counterintuitive, but anyhow… Not any more. When it’s crossed my path lately I don’t even have an interest in it.

(270) You saw? What?? Last person of the other gender I saw? My mom.

(271) What do you understand least? About the other sex? Um, not to suggest I have them all figured out, but there’s nothing I particularly feel want of knowledge about. Oh, and Trish, guys like butts because they’re a good place to rest the hands when we’re dancing/holding/etc. and breast gropage is either impractical or too indecent.

(272) Honestly, what do you notice first in the preferred gender? Depends on the person & what they’re wearing. Sometimes it’s the breasts, but usually it’s the face/eyes/smile.
